A VISITOR to `Ayush Vedika 2006' takes a look at the products on display at the Viswapriya function hall on the Beach Road in Visakhapatnam on Friday. The three-day exhibition is organised by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce to promote awareness about the Indian system of medicine.

Visakhapatnam, March 10

Ayurvedic system of medicine should be popularised among the masses, as it is indigenous and based on herbs, and there is a need to produce quality drugs at affordable prices, according to Mr D.R Garg, Commissioner of the Department of Ayush, Government of Andhra Pradesh. He was addressing a meeting here on Friday after the inauguration of Ayush Vedika - 2006. Earlier, Rear Admiral Ajit Tewari, Chairman and Managing Director of Hindusthan Shipyard Ltd, opened the three-day exhibition organised by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) and the Department of Ayush. Mr K.S Ganesan, Head of the state unit of FICCI, said similar exhibitions were held in Hyderabad and Vijayawada. Encouraged by the response, Ayush - 2006 had been organised here too, he added.
