Mumbai, March 10

Mr Rahul Bajaj, Head of the Bajaj Group of Companies, has been awarded the Indian Merchants' Chamber Juran Quality Medal. Dr R. Chidambaram, Principal Scientific Advisor to the Centre, also awarded the IMC's Ramkrishna Bajaj National Quality (RBNQ) awards to a number of companies, including Tata Chemicals' fertiliser unit in Babrala in the manufacturing category, L&T's EEC Chennai Division in the services category, DAV Public School, New Panvel, in the small businesses category, and PT Elegant Textile Industry, Indonesia, in the overseas category.

Speaking at the function, Dr Chidambaram said Indian business houses had come of age and were going global by the acquisition of foreign companies and by setting up overseas ventures.
