Telecommunications Marketing - Rural Marketing Motorola, DSCL retail chain pact Our Bureau
New Delhi , March 10 Mobile instruments maker Motorola on Friday announced an alliance with DCM Shriram Consolidated Ltd (DSCL)'s Hariyali Kisaan Bazaar, a chain of rural utility marts for sales and distribution of its handsets. The tie-up would offer the consumers access to the latest models across various categories and price bands, Motorola said in a release. ``Hariyali Kisaan Bazaar's concerted rural retail project gives us the distribution weight to address a vital segment on the Indian market,'' the Motorola Inc Corporate Vice-President, Mr Allen Burnes, said. The Bazaar's 24 operational centres have a presence across belts in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttaranchal, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Haryana, with additional plans to rapidly scale-up presence in the next few years. Mr Ajay S. Shriram, Chairman and Senior Managing Director, DCM Shriram Consolidated Ltd, said: "Our association with Motorola marks another remarkable development in providing relevant and cost-effective solutions to rural India. Today, Hariyali Kisaan Bazaar offers a unique advantage in rural markets for companies like Motorola to offer their products through the chain that will help in bridging the gap between urban and rural India. Just as communication technology has improved the quality of life in urban areas, we see this partnership offering similar benefits to the rural population, helping them enhance their productivity levels.''
