Online Marketing Info-Tech - E-Commerce & E-Business eBay wooing entrepreneurs Our Bureau
A training platform, eBay Academy, is being used to draw sellers and create awareness about the Web site. According to a survey, eBay is the most popular Web site for online shopping in the country, with 42 per cent of shoppers preferring it. It is followed by Rediff shopping (23 per cent), Indiatimes (18 per cent) and Fabmall (3 per cent). Yet, of the 2 million Indian eBay users (across 240 cities), only "some few 1,000" are sellers, according to a spokesperson at eBay. There are also resellers among them. The entrepreneurs targeted are traders, self-employed, students, unemployed graduates and from rural communities, women, minority-owned and retired segments of society.
