New Projects Industry & Economy - Textiles Priyadarshini Spinning Mills to hike capacity K.V. Kurmanath
Hyderabad , March 13 Priyadarshini Spinning Mills (PSM) Ltd, a leading player in cotton and synthetic blended yarns, has decided to set up a facility with a capacity of 10 tonnes a day. The company, which announced in September last that it would increase the capacity of dye house to five tonnes a day from 45 tonnes a month, has revised its plans, keeping in mind the increasing demand. Mr Srinivas Kodali, Executive Director, told Business Line that the demand had gone up with several units shutting down in European countries such as Italy and Spain. As a result of this, garment production is moving to India and China, while European countries are restricting themselves to furnishing and fashion business that do not require much labour but need more technology, finishing and shorter deadlines. "That is the only activity remaining there," he said. The company is expecting clearance from the Pollution Control Board , soon, facilitating dye house expansion. This would be ready in six months. Post-expansion, the company would be in the league of top five players in the country. Mr Harish Cherukuri, Managing Director of PSM, said the margins were much better in yarn dyeing than in spinning.
Öko-Tex standard
The company is confident that the recently won Öko-Tex standard 100 tag would help it target the European markets. Öko-Tex standard is an international standard on safety, applied in the entire textile production chain.
