The two aircraft are 15-18 year old and are being sourced from DHL. The induction of the aircraft will see the company become the first to operate the Boeing 757 aircraft in the domestic skies.
New Delhi , March 13 Courier and logistic company Blue Dart is to acquire two Boeing 757 aircraft to supplement its current fleet of five Boeing 737-200 aircraft that it operates in the domestic skies to transport cargo. "The two leased Boeing 757 aircraft that we will be inducted will take the payload that can be carried from the current level of 166 tonnes per night to 250 tonnes per night. The two aircraft should be joining our fleet in June this year," said the Company's Managing Director, Mr Malcolm Monteiro. The funding options for leasing the two aircraft were being examined, Mr Monteiro added. The two aircraft will be used to operate a daily cargo flight on the Chennai-Bangalore-Mumbai-Delhi-Kolkata and on the return route. The two aircraft being inducted are 15-18 year old and are being sourced from DHL. The induction of the aircraft will see the company become the first to operate the Boeing 757 aircraft in the domestic skies. The current fleet of Boeing 737-200 will not be retired right now, although some may go when more Boeing 757 aircraft are inducted, Mr Monteiro said. The induction of the Boeing 757 will also see the Company put Ahmedabad on its map. The Boeing 737 aircraft will be utilised to operate flights between Bangalore and Delhi apart from flying between Chennai-Hyderabad- Mumbai- Ahmedabad- Delhi sectors.
