Workshop on service tax in Madurai

Madurai, March 14

Madurai Chapter of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India is organising a workshop on `Service tax - Practice and procedure' on March 18, at Sivakasi Chartered Accountants Association Hall. The focus is to impart the required knowledge to the service providers in service tax matters, including the budgetary changes proposed in the Budget.

The workshop in three technical sessions, will deal with the registration procedure, requirement for raising invoice, payment of service tax, levy and payment of education cess, filing of service tax return, records to be maintained by the service providers, assessment, interests and penalties etc; the issue of show cause notice adjudication, appeal procedure before Commissioner (Appeals) and Appellate Tribunal; and, the availing of CENVAT credit.
