A win-win for India?

The India-US nuclear deal has been described as a win-win situation for both countries.

But what the nation is entitled to know is whether or not this implies that the self-reliant research path India has adopted thus far is adequate to meet the country's energy needs.

If not why can we not turned to Russia, which is helping us build the Koodankulam 1,000-MW nuclear power station without insisting on subjecting our nuclear stations to international inspection as the US has done?

And so given all this, how is the deal is a win-win situation for India?
