Petroleum States - Kerala IOC plans 19 LPG outlets in Kerala Our Bureau
Thiruvananthapuram , March 16 Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) will set up 19 auto LPG stations in Kerala, making it the first state to be completely covered by a network of such stations, according to Mr B. Ashok, Deputy General Manager. The state already has two such stations, he said here on Thursday.IOC also plans to sell its high-performance diesel, Xtramile, at four depots of the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation and in the fishing sector. Introduction of LPG for outboard fishing boats, in association with Surya Marine, had brought down the running cost for fishermen, he said.
`kisan seva kendras'
IOC is actively involved in the development of "kisan seva kendras", which are rural outlets that aim to meet the needs of villagers across the country. Its efforts to set up condom vending machines in Tamil Nadu and Kerala, in association with Hindustan Latex Ltd, had proved successful, Mr Ashok said. He said that with the support of various state governments, IOC had taken steps to curb misuse of subsidised products such as LPG and SKO (special kerosene oil). An estimated one million customers visited the retail petrol outlets in Kerala each day, he added.
