Rubber Rubber market quiet on hartal Our Correspondent
Kottayam , March 16 Spot rubber prices were flat on Thursday. Market activities came to a standstill owing to a hartal announced by rubber brokers following the death of a leading rubber broker. Sheet rubber RSS 4 was quoted steady at Rs 79.50 and Rs 79.75 a kg respectively at Kottayam and Kochi as on Wednesday. Rubber futures recorded moderate losses on the NMCE as the leading international indices were not bullish as expected. The April contract was traded at Rs 81.40 (Rs 82.10), May contract at Rs 83.80 (Rs 84.60), June contract at Rs 85.51 (Rs 86.23) and July contract at Rs 86.50 (Rs 87.50) per kg for RSS 4. The trading volumes stood at 855 lots till mid-day with 165 lots in April, 448 lots (May), 177 lots (June) and 65 lots (July). The April contract for RSS 4 fell to Rs 80.40 against Rs 81.85 a kg on the MCX. RSS 3 was unchanged at Rs 90.85 a kg at Bangkok spot. The April futures RSS 3 closed at 235.7 yen (Rs 88.88) against 235.3 yen a kg at TOCOM. The spot prices per kg were: RSS-4: Rs 79.50 (Rs 79.50); RSS-5: Rs 78.50 (Rs 78.50); ungraded: Rs 78.00 (Rs 78.00); ISNR 20: Rs 78.25 (Rs 78.25) and latex 60 per cent (per litre): Rs 56(Rs 56).
