Karnataka CM to open ice plant at Malpe

The Karnataka Chief Minister, Mr H.D. Kumaraswamy will inaugurate an ice plant of the Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts Cooperative Fish Marketing Federation at Malpe fisheries harbour in Udupi district on March 18.

Addressing presspersons in Udupi on Thursday, the federation President, Mr Y. Gangadhara Suvarna said the ice plant was constructed at a cost of Rs 62 lakh. The Union Ministry of Agriculture granted Rs 50 lakh while the federation contributed the rest.

Malpe fisheries harbour has one ice plant already.

The federation's turnover stood at Rs 24 crore last fiscal. This year it targets Rs 30 crore, he added.
