Hyderabad , March 19

The US President, Mr George W. Bush, has thanked the Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, for "gracious hospitality" during his brief visit earlier this month.

In a hand written letter to the Chief Minister delivered on Saturday , he wrote "it was clear to one that the people of your State hold you in high esteem."

The US President, according to a statement from the Chief Minister' Office, was enthralled by the Indian fruits, plants, crops, enterprising women and simplicity of the farmers during his four-hour visit to the state capital early this month.

The US President wrote his visit to the Agricultural University was most interesting as was the business school.

The statement from CMO highlighted how Mr Bush enjoyed meeting Indian agricultural scientists and enterprising women leaders from the villages of the State. Reciprocating the gesture, Dr Reddy said "President Bush's visit has placed Andhra Pradesh on a new pedestal and had given it a distinct recognition in the agriculture-driven economies world over."
