Reliance to sell Kyocera handsets

Reliance users will soon be offered a range of new handsets by CDMA handset maker Kyocera Wireless Corp. Kyocera has signed a sales and distribution agreement with Brightstar Corp, under which Kyocera mobiles will be sold, marketed and distributed to retailers of cellular service provider Reliance. Reliance Infocomm has a India-wide CDMA network with nearly 18 million subscribers.

"We aim to become one of the top three CDMA brands within the next year," said Mr Patrick Costello, International Sales Manager for Asia-Pacific at Kyocera Wireless. Brightstar will represent Kyocera in the north and eastern regions of India according to the terms of the agreement. It has also extended its support to include all of North America, South America, the Caribbean as well as India and Australia. Prices range from Rs 3,999 to Rs 14,599.
