Ford opens new dealership facility in Madurai

Our Correspondent

Madurai , March 20

Ford India inaugurated its Brand@Retail dealership facility `Akshaya Ford' at Thanakankulam, near here, on Saturday.

The integrated 3-S facility (sales, service and spares) built according to Ford's global standards includes a children's play area, a customer lounge, 30 bays for mechanical service, a fully equipped mechanical and spares centre and a 24-hour help line for vehicular assistance. The facility would cater to customers in Madurai, Sivaganga, Dindigul, Theni, Ramanathapuram and Virudhunagar.

Inaugurating the facility, the Vice-President, Marketing, Sales and Service, Ford India, Mr V. Sivaramakrishnan, said Ford's market share in the mid-size segment in the country had been 15 per cent last year and had risen to 23 per cent since the beginning of this year. Ford has been ranked among the top three automotive brands in the recently released J.D. Power Asia Pacific 2005 India Customer Satisfaction Index Study, he said.

Referring to the new facility, Mr Sivaramakrishnan said all Ford models, including the recently launched sedan - designed and engineered Ford Fiesta, envisioned as a market offering in the mid size segment, would be available at the dealership facility. The sales and service will redefine the movement to luxury and increase lifestyle and status in the State. There are 109 dealership facilities across the country, each providing direct employment to 90 persons, and many more indirectly, he added.

He said the new facility would cater to over 50 vehicles a day.

An innovative Total Maintenance Plan is offered to customers at prices starting as low as Rs 0.39 per km for Ford Ikon and Rs 0.44 paise for Ford Fiesta, under which, service and repair could be had at any authorised Ford dealership across the country. The fixed price for three years insulates the customer from price revisions in the future and helps increase the resale value of the car, said Mr Sivaramakrishnan.

He also inaugurated another facility at Tirunelveli on Saturday.
