MTNL gains on accumulation mode

Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (MTNL) continues to attract attention with dealers attributing it to "accumulation" by funds. As against an average volume of 18 lakh shares on the BSE, the MTNL counter now witnesses 40-lakh turnover, they point out. On the NSE too, the trading volumes have doubled to over 70 lakh shares, they say. On Tuesday, the MTNL shares touched an intra-day high of Rs 179, before losing their gains to end at Rs 170.95. The stock gained 18.30 per cent from February 21 on the BSE.
