Investors' awareness meet

Mangalore, March 21

The Mangalore chapter of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) conducted an investors' awareness meet here recently. A press release by the ICSI Mangalore chapter said here on Tuesday that nearly 200 investors attended the meet. Mr P. Jayarama Bhat, Chief General Manager of Karnataka Bank Ltd, who presided over the meet, underlined the need to create awareness among people to invest in capital market. "In India, not even 1 per cent of the population is investing in capital market compared to 30 per cent in other countries," he said. Mr A. Srinivasa Rao, President of the Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry, spoke on the occasion. There were sessions on `IPO', `Demat and connected matters' and `Redressal of investors grievances', at the meet. Mr S.N. Srinivasa, Chairman of the ICSI Mangalore chapter, welcomed the gathering.
