DAILY-WAGE LABOURERS load goods on boats anchored at a `ghat' near Burrabazar in Kolkata on Thursday. Small-time traders of Howrah district purchase materials from the Burrabazar wholesale market and transport them through the Hooghly river. According to the boatmen, they charge Rs 8 to 10 for 40kg of load to transport it to a distance of 10 to 15 km.
