Zenith Computers sees Rs 100-cr export sales

Notebooks see good demand

Mumbai , March 24

Zenith Computers expects export sales of Rs 100 crore during this fiscal, up from Rs 40 crore last year.

Its notebooks have met with phenomenal success overseas, and sell under the company's own brand name of Zenith, said Mr Raj Saraf, Chairman and Managing Director, Zenith Computers.

The company is looking out for more local distribution partners in the countries to which it exports, Mr Saraf said.

Currently, laptops from Zenith Computers are being sold in Saudi Arabia, Dubai, Yemen and, through distributors in Jordan in countries such as Israel and Iraq as well.

The products have also found their way to far away Costa Rica, Mr Saraf said.

The company is focusing on high-end, high-margin laptop business both in the domestic as well as international markets.

The company has manufacturing facilities in Goa and exports out of the Special Economic Zone in Kochi. In 2004-05, the company sold 30,000 notebooks, its sales growing 315 per cent during the year. The company recently announced its entry into manufacture of LCD (liquid crystal display) products. LCDs will account for 60 per cent of the revenues within two years,

The LCD displays — for laptops, mobile phones, signages, public announcement systems and televisions — will be sold as standalone products.
