New Delhi , March 24

KLG Systel is in the process of establishing five academies in the country under the brand `Upgrade' to offer specialised courses in project management, risk management and contract management.

"There is a huge requirement of skilled manpower today given the number of new infrastructure projects that are coming up. With the size of these projects increasing, there is a tremendous pressure to get the right professionals for execution of the projects," Mr Mukesh Arora, CEO, said.

KLG, which provides life-cycle software that is used in every stage of project planning and implementation, largely undertakes such training exercises for its customers including Reliance, L&T, Indian Railways, NTPC, BHEL, and DMRC.

"The Academy will not only offer teaching tools but training on large projects, showcase best practices besides project management skills. Those enrolling for the courses could be working professionals with 1-2 years experience looking at taking up larger responsibilities," he said.

The company is planning to establish five such academies over the next few months. "The Delhi Academy is ready and we will start the first course today, while Mumbai and Bangalore Academy would commence the courses from April 1, 2006," he said, adding that the company would also start the academy in Chennai and Hyderabad by the middle of calendar year.

The course fee would range from Rs 15,000 to Rs 25,000. Globally, as many as 1,28,000 people are certified in project management today, and the institute sees this number rising to 1.6 million in five years.
