AIIMS-like centres

The Finance Minister announced the setting up of "AIIMS-like" centres in Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Orissa, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh. Here are a few reactions: Not a single centre is from the southern or N-E States. The terminology "AIIMS-like" centre indicates that these may turn out to be diluted versions of the AIIMS, Delhi. The proposal came unusally from the Finance Minister and not the Health Minister as it should have been. The issue needs reconsideration.
