Poultry Variety - Music & Dance Marathi song dispels fears of bird flu Our Bureau
Promo show The National Egg Co-ordination Committee has tied up with director Mahesh Tilekar to promote the show across different locations in Maharashtra through cable channels and Marathi channels. NECC and the All India Broiler Farmers' Marketing Corporation have been roping in Bollywood stars and doctors, in their drive to remove misconceptions about egg consumption. Pune , March 27 Sunday ho ya Monday, roz khao ande (Sunday or Monday, eat eggs daily), a popular tune, had been hard hit for the past one-and-a-half months with the bird flu scare. Now, Marathi cinema has taken on the responsibility of popularising eggs across the State. Tatya mama aika zara, bhau kaka aika zara, kuni bhi sangta aika naka, bird flu ghabrun zau naka (listen uncles, listen brothers, do not listen to anything people say and go away scared of the bird flu) goes a song sung by Sudesh Bhosle, playback singer, and picturised on Marathi actors Nilu Phule, Asha Kale, Milind Gavali, Kuldeep Pawar, and Varsha Usgaonkar, to remove the misconceptions about bird flu. The four-minute song has been written, produced, and directed by Mahesh Tilekar.
What drove him
The sad plight of the poultry farmers moved him into making the film while visiting Khanapur for a selection of site for shooting. "His farm was totally empty. When asked why, he said that his farm was full just a few days back but now he had lost his money due to the bird flu scare." As he did not have money to feed the birds, he was forced to destroy them. " The farmer has now started a sugarcane juice centre." The National Egg Co-ordination Committee (NECC), an apex body of poultry farmers, has tied up with Mahesh Tilekar to promote the show across different locations in Maharashtra through cable channels and Marathi channels. NECC and the All India Broiler Farmers' Marketing Corporation (Bromark) have been roping in Bollywood stars and doctors, apart from holding melas across the country, in their drive to remove misconceptions about egg consumption. So far about 500 melas have been conducted across the country, where chicken and egg dishes were distributed free.
