Centre sanctions funds for urban projects in AP

HYDERABAD , March 28

The Centre has sanctioned projects worth Rs 1,004 crore under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM), wherein the Central component is expected to be Rs 443 crore, according to the Secretary, MA & UD, Mr S. P. Singh.

The State Secretary, MA & UD, Ms Veena Ish, and the Commissioner, Municipal Corporation of Hyderabad, Mr Sanjay Jaju, today called on the Chief Minister, Dr Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy, and appraised him of the Central clearance under the programme, according to a statement from the Chief Minister's Office.

The Chief Minister wanted the officials to speed up the various projects taken up under the programme and ensure its timely completion. The MCH secured Rs 912 crore, the highest amount under the project.
