Chennai , March 28 iSoft, the UK-based health software company, said that its Lorenzo healthcare solution, which was conceived at its Chennai development centre, handled six million real transactions an hour for 25,000 concurrent users. The test was one of the largest of its kind in healthcare, and an example of large-scale, multi-site implementation. The test was carried out with HP, Microsoft and Intel, Mr Satya Kaliki, Director, Global Product Management, iSoft, told newspersons. Lorenzo was selected by Accenture and CSC, both local service providers, as the core clinical records solution for delivery in the north-east, eastern, north-west and West Midlands regions of the UK National Health Service under the £6.2 billion NHS National Programme for Information Technology. The testing includedhealthcaretransactions such as requests, prescriptions, clinical notes, appointment booking and management of patient demographics for 25-25,000 concurrent users. The tests verified the software's capability to support 25,000 concurrent users, delivering over six million transactions an hour and scale down to 25 concurrent users with 8,289 transactions per hour, Mr Kaliki said. Using scenarios based on a mixture of primary and secondary care transactions, a `regional care' environment was simulated at HP's European Performance Centre at Stuttgart, Germany. Analysts from International Data Corporation and its health industry insights subsidiary validated the results. "It is an important achievement for ," he said.
