Arun Bidappa dead

Chennai, March 28

Mr Arun Bidappa, Managing Director of Karnataka Coffee Brokers Ltd, died in Bangalore after suffering from cancer in the pancreas. He was 50. He is survived by wife and two daughters. Mr Bidappa, who passed away on March 24, was also the Chairman of Coffee Futures Exchange of India (Cofei) Ltd, before it was dismantled due to lack of traders' interest. After taking over the chairmanship of Cofei, Mr Bidappa tried to rope in corporates as members of the exchange and worked out a system of immediate payment for growers who were willing to take part in the exchange's trading.
