Rubber Spot rubber rules flat Our Correspondent
Kottayam , March 28 Spot rubber rates remained flat on Tuesday. The final days of the financial year kept market activities extremely dull. The arrivals at the main marketing centres were low as usual. The sharp gains in international futures failed to strengthen prices, as most of the big players including major manufacturers were inactive. Sheet rubber RSS 4 closed steady at Rs 83.50 and Rs 83.75 a kg respectively at Kottayam and Kochi as on Monday. The volumes are expected to pick up by the beginning of the next fiscal. The rubber futures improved on NMCE. The April contract was quoted at Rs 84.25 (83.59); May Rs 87.03 (86.27); June Rs 88.15 (87.48) and July Rs 88.20 (87.59) per kg for RSS 4. The April contract for the grade moved up to Rs 84.50 from Rs 84.02 a kg at MCX. RSS 3 firmed up to Rs 93.96 from Rs 91.71 a kg at Bangkok spot. The April futures for the grade closed at 247 Yen (Rs 94.38) from 242.4 Yen a kg at TOCOM. Spot prices a kg were: RSS-4: 83.50 (83.50); RSS-5: 82.50 (82.50); ungraded: 81.50 (81.50); ISNR 20: 82.25 (82.25); and latex 60% (a litre): 57 (57).
