Global soya meet to discuss trade issues

Our Bureau

Mumbai , March 29

An international conference on soyabean for food uses will be held in New Delhi on April 7 and 8 to discuss challenges and opportunities in the country. India is the world's fifth largest producer of soyabean with an annual output in the range of 60-70 lakh tonnes. The country is a large importer of soyabean oil, and a modest exporter of soybean extraction.

The conference is scheduled to discuss wide-ranging issues covering production, processing and uses of soyabean, a protein-rich legume.

Technical sessions

Nutrition and health benefits, nutraceutical products, handling and marketing as also soya food products in the Indian context would be covered in the technical sessions by expert speakers.

Processing industries, entrepreneurs, policymakers, scientists, technologists, trading houses and service providers are likely to come together on a common platform to examine issues in-depth and evolve strategies for market expansion.

The conference is organised jointly by Soy Food Association and American Soybean Association.
