Thiruvananthapuram , March 30

State Bank of Travancore (SBT) has tied up with the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) to extend online railway ticket reservation facility to the bank customers.

This will enable the over 30,000-strong retail Internet banking customers of the bank to bookrailway tickets from the comfort of their home or office or any part of the world they happen to be at any given time, an official spokesman said here.

Internet banking customers who want to make use of the facility will have to first register at www.irctc.co.in. More details can be had from the head office of the bank here on telephone 0471-2358582/2358583 or over e-mail inb@sbt.co.in.

It's the growing number of Internet banking customers that has prompted the bank to introduce more and more value-add services.

The facility already offers real-time fund transfer, third-party transfer and demand draft request. Online indirect tax payment has been available from October 2005.

In addition, SBT will shortly be offering utility bill payment facility through the system. This will enable customers to make payment online for telephone bills and credit card payments.

A separate channel is being offered for the corporate customers.

As on date, SBT has 287 ATMs spread all over the country, which are part of the 5,650-strong ATM network of the State Bank Group. All 685 branches of the bank have been networked by means of the core banking solution (CBS).
