Rubber prices rule steady

The concluding session of the financial year witnessed almost steady closing in spot rubber prices. According to observers, the trading activities were in a low key as most of the buyers preferred to stay back for the time being. There was no notable selling pressure from growers or dealers at prevailing rates.

Sheet rubber continued to rule firm at Rs 83.50 a kg at Kottayam. But the grade improved to Rs 84 from Rs 83.50 at Kochi.

Futures better

NMCE rubber futures showed a better trend as the international advices seemed to be promising on Friday.

The April contract was quoted at Rs 84.30 (83.99), May at Rs 87.10 (86.67) June at Rs 88.10 (87.89), and July at Rs 88.35 (88.11) for RSS 4.

The May contract for RSS 4 improved to Rs 88 from Rs 86.37 on the MCX.

The April futures for RSS 3 closed better at 250.1 yen (Rs 94.94) against 248.7 yen a kg at TOCOM. Spot rates (Rs a kg) were: RSS-4 83.50 (83.50), RSS-5 82.50 (82.50), ungraded 81.50 (81.50), ISNR 20 82.25 (82.25) and latex 60% (a litre) 57.50 (57).
