e-gov scheme gets ISO tag

Kerala Government's e-governance programme, FRIENDS, has been awarded the ISO-9001:2000 and UKAS certification by the Netherlands-based DNV.

"The certification signifies the presence of a quality system that is managed and maintained with a quality policy, quality objectives and continuously aiming at improvements in customer services," Kerala IT Mission said in a statement. FRIENDS centres work in all the districts and use information technology to provide citizens with a single window system for payment of bills pertaining to various government departments and public sector undertakings such as motor vehicles department, revenue department and civil supplies department.
