New Delhi, March 31

Tariff war in the long distance call segment is set to intensify with Reliance Infocomm, on Friday, slashing international long distance call tariffs by up to 69 per cent.

The company has brought down ISD calls to the US, Canada, Europe and South East Asia to Rs 6 a minute from Rs 14 a minute as part of its One Nation tariff plan. The move comes after Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd announced similar tariffs for its One India plan subscribers.

Reliance has gone a step further and extended the benefits of lower tariffs even to subscribers who are availing themselves of other tariff plans to make ISD calls at Rs 7.20 per minute.

Reliance has also dropped rates for calls to Gulf, West Asia and Africa to Rs 8 per minute from Rs 17. 25. For subscribers availing other plans, tariff has been brought down to Rs 9.99 a minute from a maximum of Rs 19.99 a minute.

"We are proud to lead the way in reducing the transactional cost for Indians who are interacting with the world more and more ," said Mr S.P. Shukla, President, Wireless, Reliance Infocomm.
