Kochi , April 2 The recent introduction of new GE Light Speed Volume CT which reportedly can non invasively capture the image of any organ in the human body in just a second and perform a whole body trauma scan in less than 10 seconds is clearly a beginning in the new imaging era. Dr Rijo Mathew, Director of the Kochi-based Amma Scans said at a seminar that the system provides significant impact in cardiovascular medicine and trauma as well as significantly improve imaging in neurology, oncology and other fields. With this scanner, doctors will be able to diagnose a patient's illness much faster, enabling them to begin treatment more quickly in a crisis. The GE Light Speed VCT is a volume computed tomography scanner built technology that is breaking barriers in speed of diagnosis and accuracy thereby enabling doctors to diagnose and treat patients in the shortest time possible, he said. "It can capture the images of heart and coronary arteries in fewer than 5 heartbeats something no other CT system in the world can offer."
