Grameena bank biz grows 22 pc

The Dharwad-based Karnataka Vikas Grameena Bank — a regional rural bank sponsored by Syndicate Bank — recorded a total business of Rs 3,665 crore during 2005-06 registering a growth of 22.17 per cent over the previous financial year. Quoting the Chairman of the bank, Mr B.S. Surendra, a press release said here that Karnataka Vikas Grameena Bank continues to occupy the first position among 141 regional rural banks in the country. The total business consists of Rs 1,917 crore of deposits and Rs 1,748 crore of advances. The bank, which earned an income of Rs 241 crore during the period, expects the profit to be in the range of Rs 70 crore. These are un-audited figures for 2005-06, the release added.
