Old stocks of white arecanut top Rs 100

The price of old stocks of white arecanut touched Rs 100 a kg at the trading platform at South Kanara Agriculturists Co-operative Marketing Society (SKACMS) Ltd on Monday.

Traders quoted Rs 82-100 for different grades of the old stocks. The society decides the market for white arecanut. Major co-operatives such as Campco and Mangalore Agriculturists Sahakari Sangha (MASS) and private traders bid for the arecanut stocks in this society.

Traders quoted Rs 84-92 for new stocks of white arecanut.

Growers of white arecanut are getting this price after five years.

The price for the old stocks of white arecanut was Rs 5-10 more in the grey market.
