Singareni achieves record coal output

The Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL) has achieved a record production of 36.13-million tonnes (MT) during the fiscal ended March 31, 2006,a growth of 2.35 per cent over the previous fiscal.

The company has also achieved an all-time record in coal despatches at 35.32 MT during the fiscal under review. Of this, the company has despatched 72 per cent (25.55 MT) to the power sector.

New projects

During the fiscal under review, the company commenced coal production at three new projects. The Sattupalli Opencast-I in Khammam district commenced coal production on December 3 last year with a rated capacity of 1.1-MT per annum. With a rated capacity of 0.70-MT per annum, the Khairgura Opencast Project in Adilabad district commenced coal production in December last year. The Manuguru Opencast Project-III in Khammam district commenced coal production with a rated capacity of 0.50 MT per annum on January 16 this year.

In an endeavour for clean and green environment, the company has planted 9,50,484 seedlings during the last planting season covering an area of 659 hectares, the release said.
