The conference will showcase the entire gamut of information technology relevant to the textile industry and the deliberations will provide insight into some of the market-driven models suitable for different segments of the textile industry.

Coimbatore , April 3

Though the domestic textile industry is witnessing a stepped up phase of investment and modernisation post quota-free regime since last year, its adoption of information technology to link up its production, managing multiple operations and meeting the demands of a `seamless' supply chain has been rather slow.

Reorienting the textile industry towards meeting the challenges of new age marketing is the objective of the two-day conference, `Comptex 2006', the fourth edition textile conference for competitiveness to be organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) which opens here tomorrow.

The conference, which will have its theme `Advantage IT', will showcase the entire gamut of information technology relevant to the textile industry.

The deliberations will provide insight into some of the market-driven models suitable to different segments of the industry.

Key speakers to address the two-day event will represent the spectrum of software vendors, industry consultants and end-users who will throw light on the applicability of online data systems, entrepreneur resource planning packages, and supply chain management systems.

The conference is expected to be attended by over 200 CEOs of leading textile companies from the southern States.

It will be inaugurated by the Textiles Commissioner, Mr J.N. Singh.

Some of the top-rung textile industry/IT consultancy personalities expected to address the conference are Mr Shekhar Agarwal, Vice-Chairman, LNJ Bhilwara, Mr Heiner Eberli, Head, Marketing SYS, Reiter Machine Works, Mr Manikam Ramaswamy, Chairman, Textiles sub-committee of CII (Southern region), and the Chairman and Managing Director, Loyal Textile Mills Ltd, Mr Biswajit Babu, President, Sholingar Textiles Ltd, Mr Saurab Agarwal, Principal Consultant of KSA Technopak India Pvt Ltd, and Mr Samik Nandi, Director of Geographics Business Development, Oracle India Pvt Ltd.

The key speakers at the inaugural session will include Mr Parasuraman, Chairman, CII (SR), Mr S.V. Arumugam, Chairman, Southern India Mills Association and Mr Sridhar Varadaraj, Managing Director of Premier Evolvics Pvt Ltd who is the Chairman of Comptex 2006.
