Private players in defence sector

Our Bureau

Kolkata, April 3

Private enterprise is being feted broadly all over and the defence sector will be no exception, Mr Shekhar Dutt, Defence Secretary, indicated here today.

The involvement of private sector entrepreneurs in the emerging scenario will be important for infrastructure related areas, including roads and ports. These will serve the country's interests in more ways than one; defence, too, will be benefited in the process, he told a meeting organised by CII. The defence sector will also advocate an increase in production capacity by private players on key fronts, Mr Dutt mentioned, adding that manufacturing segment will play a crucial role in the days ahead.
