Metro Rail to be extended to Noida

New Delhi , April 4

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has signed an agreement with Noida for extension of the Metro to the satellite town.

"The cost for the extension will be about Rs 736 crore. Noida will bear the total cost for construction and land cost, while DMRC will bear the cost for the rolling stock. Noida will be approaching the Central Government for 15 per cent contribution for the portion to be funded by them," a release said.

The agreement was signed by Mr C. B. K. Rao, Director (Projects and Planning), DMRC, and Mr Sanjiv Saran, Chief Executive Officer, Noida, the release added. The extension of the metro into Noida would cover seven km and have six stations. DMRC hopes to complete the Noida extension by June 2009.
