Wonder fuel

This is with reference to, " What ails jatropha?" (Business Line, March 28): I have been following the jatropha story unfold for some years now. Lacking are seeds and biodiesel processing. And no processing on the ground means no one is growing jatropha.

The Maharashtra experiment some years ago showed that jatropha can be successfully cultivated and quickly uprooted in the absence of attractive prices and an efficient procurement system. The Government needs to be an efficient facilitator. The next issue is assured water management.
