Bangalore, April 5

Microsoft Corporation India has announced the Security Shootout initiative aimed at promoting secure code writing among Indian developers. The initiative will test the skills of 6.5-lakh strong developer community in India. "According to Gartner research, 70 per cent of all enterprise security vulnerabilities are at the software applications stage. Further, according to research conducted by Microsoft, 64 per cent of in-house enterprise software developers agree that they lack the confidence to write secure applications. Based on these facts, it is evident that there is an urgent need to train developers on how to write secure code,'' said Mr Sanjiv Mathur, Director,Microsoft India.
