Standards & Benchmarks SITAR gets ISO tag Our Bureau
Hyderabad , April 5 The automotive and commercial sectors, which have been importing semi-conductor ICs or chips, will now have a certified Indian manufacturer to source. The Bangalore-based Society for Integrated circuit Technology and Applied Research (SITAR), has qualified with an ISO 9000:2001 accreditation. SITAR is the only silicon chip manufacturer in South, which has been engaged in their design, development and manufacture, since 1999. These chips are ubiquitous in that almost all electronic appliances function using one or more of these. A registered society of Government of India, SITAR has developed custom specific products such as - computer chips, digital signal processors, frequency synthesizers, content addressable memory, complex multipliers and so on, said Dr M.S. Vijayaraghavan, Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The company also entered the sensor market developing products such as radiation sensors, acoustic sensors, and bolometers. SITAR is the first in India, which has come out with integrated Micro Electro-Mechanical Systems device during 2005, he told Business Line. Dr Vijayaraghavan received the ISO Certificate from Dr Sarnot, Director General, Standardisation, Testing and Quality Certification of the Union Ministry of Information and Communication Technology on Tuesday.
