Bank union supports SBI strike

Coimbatore, April 5

The United Forum of Bank Unions, while extending support to the strike call given by the All India State Bank of India Staff Federation and All India State Bank of India Officers' Federation, has clarified that "it would oppose and resist attempts aimed at defeating the effect of the strike.''

The All India Bank Employees' Association General Secretary, Mr C.H. Venkatachalam, in a release said the forum would oppose the reported attempt by the RBI to run the clearing houses and transact treasury operations hitherto undertaken by SBI through other banks.The forum, he said would discuss and decide solidarity programmes including strike if the SBI strike prolonged without any settlement.
