Hyderabad, April 6

Wanbury Ltd, the world's largest manufacturer of Metformin, a diabetes management product, announced that it has commissioned a new unit at its recently acquired facility at Tanuku in Andhra Pradesh. In a press release, the company said the commissioning marked the completion of the first phase of planned capacity expansion programme. In this phase, Wanbury would be manufacturing three high value products — Sertraline, Paroxetine and Carvedilol, which have a strong market.

According to the company, the second phase of expansion would be completed by August in which 4-6 new products would be added to the existing product portfolio. With capacity expansion, estimated at a cost of Rs 25 crore, the company expected to add more than Rs 100 crore to its topline. The Tanuku facility has a multi product approval from the United States Food and Drug Administration (USFDA) and has also undergone plant inspections by leading MNCs for outsourcing various products.
