Electrical Goods BHEL Hyderabad unit posts record turnover Our Bureau
Hyderabad , April 6 The Ramachandrapuram unit of BHEL (Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd) has registered a record turnover of Rs 2,635 crore during 2005-06, as against Rs 1,747 crore in 2004-05, showing a growth of 51 per cent. The profit before tax (PBT) has gone up 90 per cent from Rs 320 crore in 2004-05 to Rs 609 crore this fiscal. Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, Mr C.P. Singh, Executive Director of the unit said, "We are looking at possibility of acquiring units. A dedicated team is working on this. As things mature, we will take a decision." As the country moved towards super critical thermal power stations of 800 MW, the BHEL geared itself up to meet this opportunity by forging tie-ups with leading global giants for in-house manufacture of pumps, heat exchangers and pulverisers. The unit was readying itself to test Fr-9FA Advanced Class Gas Turbine (255 MW). In view of the increasing market for 120 MW class STG (steam turbine generator) sets, the unit had devised a plan to tap this opportunity. "We have already bagged 12 sets for delivery by 2007-08," he said.
