Hyderabad, April 6

The Centre has sanctioned Rs 98.39 crore for the development of urban infrastructure in five towns of Andhra Pradesh under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM). The special representative of Andhra Pradesh in New Delhi, Dr Ravi Mallu, said that the Government has released 50 per cent of the amount as first installment. The towns to benefit from the funds are Pulivendula, Kandukur, Markapur, Miryalaguda, and Adilabad. With this release, the State has received Rs 1,285.81 crore during 2005-06 under the sub-mission of Urban Infrastructure and Transport under JNNURM, he said in an official press release here. - Our Bureau
