New Products & Services Variety - Entertainment & Leisure New Tamil channel from April 13 Our Bureau
Chennai , April 6 Imayam, a 24-hour Tamil infotainment channel, will be launched throughout India on April 13, according to Mr R.A. Jebaraj, Director, Channel Bharat Entertainment (P) Ltd, the company which is launching the channel. The channel will cater to genres such as film, non-film based comedy, game-shows, women-oriented programmes and interactive shows. Some of the programmes that will appear on the channel include Sabash Kudumbam, a family show anchored by actress Kausalya; Kaetten Rasithen, also a family show, anchored by television actor Abishek; and Penmani, anchored by Uma Padmanabhan, which will offer tips on cooking, home medicine, physical fitness and beauty. Mr Jebaraj said that an initial investment of Rs 3 crore has gone into the channel. Mr Suresh Chandran, Head - Marketing, said that in the one week preceding the launch, the company's advertising spend would be approximately Rs 20 lakh.
