Events Industry & Economy - Radio/TV CAS meet: Top broadcasters stay away Our Bureau
New Delhi , April 7 Much to the ire of the cable TV industry, top broadcasters today stayed away from the fourth meeting to discuss the implementation of the Conditional Access System (CAS) in Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata. The broadcasting industry was represented by the Indian Broadcasting Foundation, which has been asking the cable TV operators to work out the pricing of the addressable systems. The Government, which has held talks with various stakeholders that included cable TV operators, multi-system operators, broadcasters and consumer bodies, is likely to approach the High Court with a roadmap before the April 10 deadline While Information and Broadcasting Secretary, Mr S.K. Arora, was tightlipped on the matter, he merely said, "We are trying to work towards that... we will take appropriate action." According to industry sources, pricing of channels by the broadcasters remains the contentious issue even as the Government is looking to fix a maximum retail price.
