Italian bank sets up rep office

Mumbai , April 7

Monte dei Paschi di Siena, the oldest bank in the world, has set up a representative office in Mumbai. The parent company of the MPS group hopes to target the Italian companies that operate in India.

According to a press release, the representative office is aimed at helping Italians developing their business in India.

Internationally, the bank has commenced a service model called — International Partner-Advisory services, which provides support to SMEs in expanding globally through its foreign network.

The bank, which was established in 1472, had funded the expedition of Christopher Columbus. It now has 2,000 branches and employs 4.5 million customers.
