MoUs signed with 2 UK varsities on NELP VI

During the concluding leg of the Petroleum Minister, Mr Murli Deora's visit to UK and the US, two memorandums of understandingwere inked in London on Friday.

The MoUs were to promote the sixth round of the New Exploration Licensing Policy and the third round of Coal Bed Methane project. The pacts were signed between Imperial College, University of Aberdeen of the UK and the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, India, through the Directorate General of Hydrocarbons (DGH).

An official statement said the MoUs had been in the pipeline since last year.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Deora said the signing of the MoUs marked a significant breakthrough for meeting the research and development needs of the petroleum sector in India.

The Minister also said that the petroleum and natural gas sector in India was at a crucial juncture. For energy security, the country is committed to make all efforts to increase its exploration activities.
