V. Rishi Kumar

Hyderabad , April 9

PortalPlayer Inc, a technology provider for digital entertainment companies, is in parleys with original equipment manufacturers and original design companies, to roll out detachable personal media displays (PMD).

Personal media displays (PMDs) are handy small devices that store and display information helping in faster retrieval of information for laptop users.

The Chief Operating Officer of PortalPlayer Inc, Mr Sanjeev Kumar, told Business Line that these devices are compatible with Windows XP versions.

PortalPlayer, which offers a key component for Apple iPod, has developed this on the Preface Technology. Given the potential of these devices, these are set to hit the market as standalone detachable versions. These devices can easily be plugged in and feature a range of applications such as e-mails, power point presentations and can even host music.

The Preface Technology combines high-speed digital and analog signal processing interface and brings in flexibility in terms of data synchronisation and management. PortalPlayer has developed this complete solution with a unique combination of hardware and firmware, Mr Kumar said.
