Modernisation Industry & Economy - Infrastructure States - Maharashtra Mumbai airport gets licence ahead of modernisation Our Bureau
New Delhi , April 9 Ahead of the start of the modernisation process in the Mumbai airport, the Government has given a licence to the airport. Official sources told Business Line that the licence, valid for six months at present, was issued earlier this week. The Directorate-General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) recently mandated that all airports within the country need a valid licence to ensure that they function as per the internationally laid down procedures and guidelines. The other airports, which have got a licence include Delhi, Puttaparthi and Kochi. "When the new company, Bombay International Airport Ltd, that has been shortlisted to take up the modernisation process, gets the airport, it will be a fully licenced airport. They will have to maintain high standards at the airport otherwise the licence could be withdrawn," Government officials said.
